Volunteer Spotlight: Alamelu Sundaram

In celebration of National Volunteer Week (April 24-30), we chatted with  Alamelu Sundaram who has joined our volunteer team for the 2023 CARHA Hockey World Cup! 

Why is volunteering important to you?
I want to serve the community.

How long have you been a volunteer in the community?
20 years

What do you enjoy about volunteering?
Meeting, talking and helping people

Do you have a special memory from a previous volunteer experience?
Met wonderful participants who thanked me for my service.

How did you become interested in volunteering for the CARHA Hockey World Cup?
I volunteered for the 2010 Olympics and got interested in all different sports

What is something you’re most looking forward to volunteering for the CARHA Hockey World Cup?
Meeting and helping out.

Any words of advice you’d like to share with others who are interested in volunteering in their community?
Better than sitting at home and watching TV. Meeting wonderful people. If you enjoy community service and like meeting wonderful people this is definitely worth getting involved. You will not be disappointed.
