We had the opportunity to ask Pekka Pääkkönen from Team Nestorit a few questions about their history, their excitement for the CARHA Hockey World Cup, and more! Meet one of the many teams from Finland in Richmond in March! Tell us about your team – What is your team name? How long have you been a team for? Nestorit was founded in 1999 by a couple of fathers to enable their boys and their friends to continue playing ice hockey in recreational level after their midget years. Maintaining the father’s physical condition by playing hockey was another important factor that went into starting the team. There are still two original players from the year 1999 on Nestorit's roster for the 2020 CARHA Hockey World Cup! Nestorit has been playing in Finland Jyväskylä's recreational hockey league since the league founded in 2001. Have you played in the CARHA Hockey World Cup before? When? This is the second time Nestorit is participating in the CARHA Hockey World Cup. Nestorit has been participating in several tournaments in the home country Finland and made memorable tournament travels abroad - Czech (Prague), Latvia (Riga) and of course Canada's CARHA Hockey World Cup in Windsor. What interests you about the CARHA Hockey World Cup? The CARHA Hockey World Cup is a great tournament and arrangements are top notch. The chance to see NHL games live is a great experience that we are looking forward to, and the off-ice activities are always great. What are you most looking forward to in Richmond in 2020? We are excited and eager to see the praised and beautiful Vancouver/Richmond area!

Hi there at CARHA,
May I ask you to get me in touch with Pekka? It would be interesting to hear more about Team Nestorit’s Czech adventure. And their other hockey-travel experience, perhaps trip recommendation and the like..
