Day 5 – Game Recaps

Friday's finals and semi finals action on day #5 of the Molson CARHA Hockey World Cup. 
Muumiot vs HC Salem (Lulu Island Winery 55+): 
Finland’s #68 Ari Helminen led is team scoring two of their three goals in the first period. #12 Randy Edwards would score the lone goal for HC Salem as Muumiot won this one 3-2. 

Osteraker Mariners 50 vs Ukkometsot (River Rock Casino Resort 50+): 
Ukkometsot would outshoot their opponents in both the first and second periods which resulted in them having a commanding lead. #64 Kimmo Salminen would score four times to lead Ukkometsot victory. 

Nordic Trading House v St Moritz Selection (Molson Ultra 35+): 
These teams from Canada and Sweden would battle back and forth, both holding leads at different points of the game. Three periods was not enough as #29 Gian Marco Trivella scored late in the 3rd to force OT. In OT, #23 Nicole Stohr would score with 47 seconds remaining to give St Moritz Selection the win. 

Beavers 55 vs Richmond Cowboys (Herbland 55+): 
Both teams exchanged goals early in this matchup before #89 Brian McGillvary was at it again scoring three times in the Beavers 55 win over the Richmond Cowboys. 

Legends Pub vs Richmond HC (Vizzy 19+): 
Richmond HC started early scoring two goals in the first period. Both teams would make a defensive surge in the second before we saw 5 total goals in the 3rd, 4 of which were scored by Richmond HC, resulting in a 6-1 final. 

Blacksheep vs Quesnel Goldpanners (iPlayHockey 50+): 
It looked as though these teams would need extra time to declare a winner as the game was tied with 10 minutes left in the 3rd period. However Goldpanner #4 Vince Kukuki was on the receiving end of a beautiful pass from teammate #22 Colin Keis to score the game-winning goal in a Goldpanners 2-1 victory.

Winroc Candiens vs HT Cream (Pizza Pizza 40+): 
The Canadian and Finland sides battled it out equaling the same amount of shots in the first and second periods. However the HT Cream team broke through in the second period scoring four times. #75 Lauri Asiala would complete the hat-trick late in the 3rd to finish this one 6-2 for HT Cream. 

Richmond Cowboys 65 vs SOHA Team Sweden (Vanvouer Sign Group 65+): 
#32 Christer Stovell and teammate #20 Jan Persson led the SOHA squad both scoring two goals as their team went on to win 5-1 over the Richmond Cowboys. 

Ka Camp Ladies vs Smooth Grooves (McArthurglen Designer Outlet Women): 
The Smooth Grooves would throw 27 shots at the Ka Camp side as the Grooves went on to win 5-1. The winning side was led offensively by #16 Daira Dhillon would had 5 points (3G, 2A). 

Surrey Beavers vs Calgary Hornets (Xbox 19+): 
#17 Riley Cunningham would score 3 times while adding 3 assists to lead his Surrey Beavers to a big victory in this one. #88 Jesse Shipowick, #7 Clayton Reeves, and #2 Chris Stew would also add a pair of goals each. 

HC Mehtimakelainen vs Snails (Molson Ultra 35+): 
After going down a goal early, HC Mehtimakelainen would score three in a row to give themselves a 3-1 lead with 10 minutes left in the game. The Snails would score with just over 3 minutes left to stage a late comeback but would ultimately come up short as HC Mehtimakelainen won 3-2. 

Ladner Fisherman vs Alta Tigers (iPlayHockey 50+): 
Even with a standout performance by goalie #1 Chris Roberts who made 30 saves, the Tigers came out ahead winning this one 3-1. #25 Ola S scored the game-winning goal in the 3rd period. 

BIK Karlskoga vs Hopoki (Pizza Pizza 40+): 
Bik Karlskoga remained undefeated as they defeated the Finnish side by a score of 4-2. #9 Robert Frost scored what would end up being the game-winning goal with 2:01 remaining in the 3rd period, 

Dangleberries vs The Simpsons (Vizzy 19+): 
The Simpsons hoped to keep their perfect record intact on Friday as they faced off against the Dangleberries. Although losing 2-1 going into the second period, they were able to find their offensive chops scoring 4 more times and winning 5-3. 

Vancouver Flames vs SOHA 70+ 
After going down early, the SOHA side would score 4 unanswered goals to come out ahead in this one. #17 Christer Busk scored twice leading his team to victory. 

The Mariners vs Trojans (Cyclone Taylor Source for Sports 55+): 
Goalie #1 Brad Hogg would record a shutout as the Trojans defeated the Mariners by a score of 3-0. 

Britvegas vs Devs (Molson Canadian 25+):
In the tournament Feature Game, Britvegas went up against a Devs team that hadn’t lost yet this tournament. The Devs jumped out to an early lead but Britvegas refused to give up as they scored 2 goals in the 2nd to draw even. The teams would remain tied in the 3rd plus OT and a shootout was needed where the hometown Britvegas squad won the championship.
