CARHA Hockey and the CARHA Hockey World Cup stand united with the people of Ukraine

Q&A with HC Baletky from the Czech Republic

Vaclav Venig and his team are taking part in their first CARHA Hockey World Cup this upcoming March for the 2022 CHWC in Richmond, BC. Venig shares his plans and his excitement for his first trip to Canada to compete for the Cup!

Is this your first time visiting British Columbia? Your first time visiting Canada?
For me personally, this will be my first time visiting British Columbia. I have never been to Canada before. It’s a great opportunity to see wonderful nature and visit a country where ice hockey is faith. I met some Canadian citizens during the world ice hockey championship in Prague in 2015 and I must say all of them were very kind people. I am looking forward to meeting locals and also to meet people from other countries around the world.

Will this be the first visit to Canada for many of your teammates?
I think one or two teammates have already visited Canada, one of them has been to Vancouver. He told us it was a great experience and hopefully he will share some tips for the must-see activities.

What activities do you and your teammates have planned during your time in Richmond, BC?
We have a few divers on our team and I know they already found a local diving club. I believe there are some amazing places to discover in Richmond waters! We would also like to visit national parks nearby Vancouver and hopefully we'll get a chance to see an NHL game. The CARHA tournament is only for one week and it will be difficult to explore all the beauties. We should stay longer!!!

What “Canadian Foods”  (Beavertails, Poutine, Canadian Bacon, Tim Hortons Coffee, etc.,) are you excited to try?
I would like to try original Poutine which is probably one of the most popular foods in Canada but also “Canadian Bacon“ sounds delicious!

Vaclav and his teammates take a photo with NHL player, Radko Gudas (Florida Panthers). Radko is native from their city, Beroun, and from time to time he joins their training, which Vaclav states, “is always a great experience for the team.”
